Cultural Diversity Week Celebrations and YAY Tribute to JJay De Melo
Cultural Diversity Week is Victoria’s largest multicultural celebration, with an array of festivals and events held across Victoria.
Presented by the Victorian Multicultural Commission, the week invited Victorians to embrace and celebrate the state's cultural diversity with this year's theme of 'Proud to Belong - Your Generation Your Stories'. YAY were honored to be part of this year's festivities as we paid homage to our dear colleague, JJay De Melo.
Premier's Gala Dinner
The Premiers Gala Dinner launched Cultural Diversity Week 2019, with an outstanding showcase of Victoria's multiculturalism and artistic talents through traditional and contemporary music and dance. On the night, our YAY dance group performed a dance tribute to JJay De Melo who tragically passed away earlier this year. It was a moving performance on a night where we were proud to show the cultural and artistic talent of JJay.

There were many diverse talents and performances on show from young, up and coming rappers, to Aboriginal Australian rapper, Dallas Woods and Circus Habesha. The YAY dance group performed a final tribute to JJay De Melo, with a vibrant and uplifting performance that had everyone dancing.
